Tower 2 is a dedicated serviced apartment high-rise with 2-to-3 bedroom units and executive penthouse suites. Finally, Ambassy Lodge is a separate building with eight, short-stay rooms. Its room rates include a complimentary breakfast and access to clubhouse facilities.
The prestigious Ambassy Club is managed by a professional team that “upholds the philosophy of providing uncompromising service with time-honored personal touches”. The clubhouse’s facilities are well-maintained and include: a gym, squash court, rock climbing wall, children’s play area, spa, etc.
The compound also has an outdoor play area, which has been cleverly (and safetly!) placed over the underground parking facility entrance, as well as an outdoor pool and café. In addition, Ambassy Club’s onsite services include housekeeping, water delivery, dry cleaning, etc. Due to their level of professionalism, central location, and luxurious facilities, Ambassy Club continues to be a popular choice among international individuals and families.
Neighborhood
Ambassy Court is located in the part of Xuhui that once belonged to the French Concession. Today, the area’s tree-line boulevards, cafes, and foreign goods stores continue to attract foreigners. Ambassy Court is situated along a quiet section of Middle Huaihai Road (previously Avenue Joffre), a major commercial street that was once one of the French Concession’s most important streets.
Ambassy Court is nearest to the Shanghai Library metro station (Line 10), but both Changshu Road station (Lines 1/7) and Hengshan Road station (Line 1) are less than 10 minutes away by foot. Several of the city’s most important commercial areas are within easy reach, including South Shaanxi Road, Jing’an Temple, and Xujiahui. Commute to these areas is only about 10-15 minutes by car or bike.

Forty One Hengshan Road is a 23-storey building that towers far above the buildings surrounding it. When it was first built, it was one of the only high-rise development projects in the area to get approval. The developer sold half of the units to individual landlords, while maintaining control over the second half and putting them directly up for rent. Additionally, several floors were allocated for use as serviced apartments. Their most premium apartments – the penthouses – have all been professionally decorated by an interior design team.
The lobby is expansive, with a number of pleasant, window-side seating areas. Residences range from one- to three-bedrooms and feature modern furnishings, imported appliances, wood flooring, and generously-sized balconies. Higher floors benefit from spectacular, uninterrupted views of the surrounding area. 5-star hotel services are available, including housekeeping, guest services, dry cleaning, and more. An onsite pool, gym, and business center are available.
Its location is superb. The Former French Concession, where it’s located, is home to several consulates, a popular international Christian church, western bars and eateries, and cafes. Charmed by its tree-lined boulevards and trendy dining venues, a large number of expatriates call the area home. Originally constructed in 1922 to connect the French Concession with Xujiahui, Hengshan Road itself is one of the most well-known streets in the area. A bike ride between Forty One Hengshan Road and Xujiahui takes just 10-15 minutes.
Neighborhood
Forty One Hengshan Road is located in the commercial, fast-paced district of Xuhui. Alongside Huangpu District and Jing’an District, Xuhui District is one of the city’s major affluent urban districts. Known for its history as an academic and religious center, gorgeous tree-lined streets in the Former French Concession area, and an endless array of shopping and dining options, Xuhui has remained as a long-time favorite of expatriates and locals alike.
Once owned by the Xu family, Xuhui’s Xujiahui area (the heart of the district) became engraved in time when one member, Xu Guangqi, rose to become the country’s most prominent Catholic convert and, in cooperation with his foreign counterparts, translated influential texts between Latin and Chinese. Over time, the area became known as a Catholic stronghold and a center of learning, as well as for its ties to the neighboring French Concession. Although much of the area was repurposed for industrial purposes in the mid-1900s, a 1990s development project has revived the area and transformed it into a major commercial area.
Today, Xuhui District is home to a number of key roads and sites, including: part of Huaihai Road, part of the Former French Concession area (shared with Huangpu), Shaanxi Road, Wukang Road, Fuxing Road, Shanghai Stadium (IKEA nearby), Panyu Road and Jiaotong University. It also borders Huangpu Creek, includes the South Shanghai Railway Station and the Inner Ring Elevated Road (an expressway), and provides for easy access to Huangpu, Pudong, Changing, and Minhang. As a central district, the area is well supported by the city’s expansive metro system, and some areas can be even be reached by bike or on foot.

Compound
Although Summit Panorama is located in the very core of a city with 25 million people, the compound’s management team has attempted to create the impossible – a community. If not for the Shanghai Tower and the Shanghai World Financial Center (“the bottle opener”) jetting up in the distant skyline, you would never know that you were anywhere else but just your quintessential local neighborhood, albeit one with fantastic landscaping.
And their landscaping truly does shine. Because while an abundance of ‘green spaces’ are very much in vogue these days, Summit Panorama has set a new standard by placing a full-fledged park in its center. Its meandering walkways are perfect for a morning stroll. The pond-side benches are blissfully serene. And an expansive greenery gives children (and their pets!) plenty of room to run and play, as do the playgrounds and terraces.
Signs are everywhere encouraging residents to look out for each other, respect the seven NOs (i.e. a list of commonplace rules such as “no littering”), and support learning. But what really stands out is the emphasis on health. Signs are discreetly tucking in the grass, telling residents how many steps they’ve walked if they started at a certain point. Outdoor exercise machines – many of them cleverly placed to give the user a feeling of privacy – are dotted everywhere and even come with instructions.
The buildings surrounding the park include three 33-storey buildings and three 10 to 14-storey buildings, all of which were completed in early 2003. With the park in the center and the Lujiazui towers in the skyline, the views are panoramic and stunning. Members have access to a full range of amenities, including an onsite clubhouse and fitness center.
Neighborhood
The tree-lined streets that encircle the compound are surprisingly tranquil, given their proximity to Lujiazui, the purported “Wall Street of Shanghai”. Lujiazui isn’t for everyone; the 30-plus skyscrapers place it firmly in the realm of “concrete jungle” in the minds of some would-be residents. However, occupancy rates are still high, and why wouldn’t they be? For many expats, the chance to live in the iconic, high-energy area of Lujiazui, with its stunning views and endless amenities (for adults and children alike), is an unbeatable opportunity.
Two metro stops are within walking distance: Line 9 Shangcheng Road station (10 min.) and Line 2 Dongchang Road station (15 min.). Line 2, in particular, connects directly to a number of key stations: Hongqiao Railway Station, Hongqiao Airport, Jing’an Temple, People’s Square, East Nanjing Road, and Pudong Airport.
Lujiazui itself is just 10 minutes by car or 25 minutes by metro. The closeness of Lujiazui is especially convenient as it’s a center for museums, galleries, restaurants, shops, 5-star hotels, fitness and health centers, salons, spas, and more. For further out locations, including those in Puxi, it’s easy to connect to one of the major expressways, bridges, or tunnels.
